Drano!
So in case you haven't been updated, we have been trying all kinds of old wives tales out before we find out the sex of the baby. The pendulum test said girl on pretty much all occasions and with both of our wedding rings and a needle. We thought we should go for the big one: the Drano test. It goes like this: Get crystal Drano. Pee in a cup. Add to Drano. Watch what happens. If it changes color, it's a boy, if not, it's a girl. In the process of getting all this ready, my mom mentioned it to her pregnant neighbor and she wanted to be in on the experiment too. As did my mom actually, but as a control. So tonight we all peed in Drano. My jar's reaction was pretty awful. It bubbled like mad and got really black, so I guess that means boy. My mom's did the same thing however, though not as bad and not as instant. I guess she's having a baby boy too?? Anna's, the neighbor, didn't do anything. Looks like she gets girl, which I'm guessing she's ok with after 2 boys she already has. In any case, the smell was absolutely awful and though we stood far enough away, it stunk to high heaven. So that's that! We will see how right the tests were soon (i hope)!

Exciting news X2!!
Well lets just start off by getting the most awesome out of the way: WE GOT APPROVED FOR OHP! Our card should arrive in the mail today and I can call to set up an appt with a dr! This comes after the other little awesome bit of news: I felt my first little kick last night! I had been wondering what was gas and what was baby for about a week but this little thumbprint-feeling jab was pretty obvious. I will keep this posted as to dr appts in the future, especially the anxiously awaited ultrasound!

quickening
The biggest question I'm getting right now is "have you felt anything yet?" Honestly I hadn't really thought about it but I'm starting to think not all gas is gas. Until it's obvious, I don't want to say I have, but I'll let you know for sure when I'm sure.
We re-applied for OHP last Friday and should hear back by this Friday. Keep praying! We got approved for WIC for the remainder of the pregnancy, so I'm hoping that's a promising sign. I'm trying not to think about it till we know.
For those who like to keep up on baby size/food items, here's an easy link to the 2nd trimester:http://www.parents.com/pregnancy/second-trimester/fetal-growth/how-big-is-your-baby-in-second-trimester/

Belly!
Well it seems I've exploded. And overnight too! One day no one notices a thing, and the next day people are speculating twins due to my size this early in the game. While my stomach has gotten a few inches larger, I'm still steadily losing weight. I'm down about 17 lbs since I got pregnant. Maybe that's making the belly more noticeable, who knows. As for the twins comments, we honestly can't say we're NOT because we haven't had an ultrasound yet, but.....
After a long drawn out nasty cold I'm almost back to normal. It sucks not being able to take anything! I think I've reached that normal part of the pregnancy as well. No more nausea! The gag reflex is still on alert though. I've been trying to get back to working out regularly which is hard after taking so much time off due to illness or general crappiness. Unfortunately my BP and pulse get a bit high when doing so but I'm determined to keep going even if it's at a snail pace.
As for OHP, we re-apply this week. We got our paychecks down to a measly amount and the month will generally suck because of it, but if we get OHP it's all for the greater good. Keep us in your prayers this week!
